High School Team League kicks off with 3 teams

We had a good turnout this past Saturday for the first CSRA High School Team League at the Hippodrome. Twelve students from six area high schools attended along with a handful of parents too.

Davidson Fine Arts School fielded the only complete team, so we created two Combo teams with the other kids and had one Davidson student play solo.

After a welcome speech by Pete May describing about how special the day was by being part of something new and groundbreaking, we headed out for 18 on Old Glory reds. At first the kids thought having all 12 golfers on the same card would take too long, but it worked out real well. Team doubles plays a lot faster than you'd think and it's a lot of fun playing in front of so many people. We had a built-in gallery of at least 20 golfers, parents, and staff!

Combo Team Evans shot a 46 (-8) to take down a highly competitive week 1. Congrats to Jacob Vaiden, Nolan Boulineau, and Aaron Doyle.

After the round, several kids stuck around to play a singles round on Hogback and compete for the overall Individual Championship title. Jacob Vaiden continued his hot shooting and easily handled the crew with a smoking 54. Nice job, Jacob!
