Closed til New Years while we get our new space ready

New building update & holiday hours

We will be open Sunday until 4 PM and Christmas Eve until 2 PM.

We are moving into our new building the week between Christmas and New Years. Our hours may vary, so call ahead. The entrance you have been using for the Hippodrome and the pro shop off Highway 1 will close and change to Atomic Road.

Our new address will be:

Do not enter via the "back way" using the road under I-520! Park in the rear at the new building next to the auto body shop. Thank you!

Patriots Sunday Singles Tags Finals Results

Ed Simmons finished second in the putting contest.

The threat of rain kept most tagholders away today, but those who did show enjoyed some good golf, prizes, food, and friendship.

Tagholders 1 and 2 didn't show so Finals champ Dillon Meadows went home with #3 by shooting a very jolly 49! John Schneider won B pool with a 58.

Jack Korn pulled down a CTP and putting contest prize, Bo DeBruin earned a CTP with deuce on hole 1, and John Schneider won the Great Flip Off.

Everyone won free pizza, Borelli Brownies, and reindeer candy canes!

Look for a new Saturday or Sunday league to start at the Hippodrome next month!

We've got the Buzzzz!

I was sitting on the couch under the tent on a cloudy, chilly Tuesday late afternoon. I heard a truck pull into the parking lot and watched father and son Scott and James, first-time visitors to the Hippodrome, get out and start looking around.

"I saw the huge basket from I-520 and had to check this place out," Scott said.

"Great!" I replied. "Let's get you out there before the sun sets!"

Scott and James have got the buzzzz!

I offered to play a round with them and show them around so that they could get in a fast 18. We played from the Reds and had a great time. I even tweaked Scott's throw a bit and he was excited to be throwing farther than ever. "Now I just have to work on my accuracy!" he said as he shanked one to the right on Dry Lakes, hole 7.

They had a great time and each made a birdie or two. James even skipped his drive off the pond on Treasure Island to land a few feet from the basket. We finished in the dark but these guys didn't mind. "We'll be back!" they said.

Gryphon the putting practice dog hits the Internet

Yesterday I did some practicing putting with my nephew dog, Gryphon. Good dog!

This video is on a mini-viral spree on Facebook and has been viewed and shared by hundreds of people. YouTube is another story, but I'm sure pretty soon he'll need an agent!

Black Friday Glow and Dubs!

Everyone gets one free LED for their disc and a couple glow rings to wear!

Store closed Saturday, open Sunday

We will be closed this Saturday, but our high school league will still go on. See you at 1:00. Well, you won't see me, but you know what I mean.

We will be open on Sunday, however.

Let's glow on Black Friday!

Join us for Black Friday Dubs and Glow at the Hippodrome on Friday, Nov. 23! We'll have two separate rounds -- play one or both.

• Random Dubs at 3:00 PM, $7
• Glow at 6:30 PM, $7
• Divisions: Pro (play for cash), Advanced, Intermediate, Rec (play for Buzz Bucks)

Bring your own glow disc or LED lights or pick some up at the shop. Each glow golfer will get one glow ring to wear for safety.

We'll have the bonfire going and have some post-rounds treats for you too!

If this goes over well, look for a regular glow night over the winter!

The end-of-the-season finale for the Killer B $10 Tourney series comes to an end this Sunday at the Hippodrome. We'll be playing two rounds on Old Glory blues.

Please RSVP now if you haven't already. The more we have ready ahead of time the faster we will be able to get you out on the course. $10, invite-only.

Windy day 1 done

What a windy day! Two rounds in 10-20 mph sustained winds was an adventure for most of us and for me, a lot of fun. I love seeing a disc get bashed around in the air.

For those playing in the event this weekend, please check in at the store at the entrance to the Hippodrome at the big tent. We will have the players meeting there and then all drive down to Headrick Hills.

Every day I arrive at our new location at the Hippodrome, I notice something new and improved on the course.

First it was new benches popping up on each tee pad followed by tee numbers a few days later. Then it was a huge tent for players to hangout under and bright Killer B yellow flowers in the huge pots near the entrance.

This morning I pulled in and new driving range distance markers greeted me. So cool!

The guys here at the Hippo are working hard to create a great course. Stop by for a round and see for yourself!

To quote Tommy Odom, "The place looks more like a disc golf course now!"

Combo Course has the best of both

I walked the Combo course yesterday that we are playing for our tournament this weekend. I have to admit that Pete and Tim have selected a fun mix of long, short, open, and tight. Bring all your shots!
