Battling at the $10 Tourney

Juniors Champ Branden H.
I usually like to take a lot of photos during our tournaments but because I was playing this time, I only took a few. However, I was able to take a bunch during the 5-hole playoff between Juniors Branden Hill and Will DeBruin. It was one of the most exciting playoff I've ever seen.

The boys played with nerves of steel and looking at them handle the pressure you might think they were seasoned pros. Dads Freddie and Bo stood at a distance and offered the occasional word of encouragement but more importantly let the boys do their thing.

It was great watching the kids battle, but what I thought was even better were the 25-30 golfers who were following them around clapping and cheering them on. Afterward, Will said that having all these people watching them was "spooky." Ha! You'll get used to it Will!

Will D
In the end Branden pulled out the victory after Will's drive on hole 5 hit a tree and bounced down the embankment toward the pond. Branden's drive flew through the trees and left him with an easy approach and putt. Nice job, guys!

More tight finishes
We also had a playoff in Intermediate between James Meek and Matt Bonitatibus that lasted just two holes with Matt taking it down. Herman Grant shot the hot round of the day with a 50 on his way to winning Advanced Masters and two CTPs. Stephen Trello kept old man Mike Doyle at bay in Advanced with a 2-stroke victory and also won two CTPs.

The Womens division was also a hotly contested one with all three ladies shooting either an 85 or 86 in round 1. The battle continued in round 2 with Antoinette Shackleford edging out Nanette Vilano by just one stroke on the last hole of the day. It's great to see the ladies competing out there! World Champ Chuck Hornsby easily handled the other Grandmasters with a 4-throw victory.

Sponsors are great
Thanks to sponsors Big Dog Sweeton, Brian Graham, Dom Randazza, Jason Allind, Mike Doyle, Brandon Phipps, Paul Childs, and Killer B, we were able to give away a bunch of stuff. Besides winning a custom dyed trophy disc by Taylor McKnight, all first place winners also received a free car wash token at Lulu's courtesy of Brandon Phipps.
