Swag Fail

Back in February, Marcy came across an energy drink called Killer-B and we thought it would be great for them to sponsor our main tournament of the year, King of the Hill.

I sent them an email telling them that a good chunk of disc golfers drink energy drinks and it would be a great opportunity for them to expose their already popular brand by sponsoring the event.

Or, they could send over a Street Team and pass out free samples. It was a no-brainer. Killer-B and Killer B. Of course they'd be up for it!

They wrote back and thanked me for my interest but didn't think disc golf was "extreme" enough and didn't fit in with motocross, snowboarding, and snowmobile flipping. They did promise to send me some "cool <brand name> swag", though, so I was happy. More free stuff to give away at the tournament.

It never arrived, so I sent them a reminder last week. I figured this multi-million dollar beverage company would send a shirt, a hat, or maybe a skateboard. Okay, I didn't really expect a skateboard, but I did expect something more than what came in the mail today.

The "cool swag" was a sheet of stickers. Kind of a letdown, but free stuff is free stuff and I'm sure I'll use it as some sort of silly CTP for the 20-somethings at our tournament!  :-)

  1. What a bunch of losers. They've just lost out on a great opportunity. Did you send them pictures of golfers up to their armpits in snow, playing a course? How's THAT for extreme?!
