It was Sunday. Discs were slung.

I joined the Augusta Sunday Slingers this week for two rounds at the IDGC in Appling. Nine golfers showed up and we played our first round on the Steady Ed Headrick Memorial course, a woodsy, technical course. It was beautiful out there by the lake - a crisp 45-degrees, sunny, and a little fog too.

Mark had the shot of the day with his drive on hole 5. Plunked straight into a broken-off tree!

I meant to do that!

After a lunch of burgers, chips, and brownies, we head out for a second round on the longer and challenging Jim Warner Memorial course. Man, I loved that course. Long open fairways carved through the forest, up and down hills and across valleys. Very fun. It was a long round, but a fun one with Gene, Phil, and Taylor. Thanks for showing me the course guys.

Next week, the Slingers head over Aiken, SC for 9 holes at Odell and then 9 holes at USC/Aiken. Visit SundaySlingers.com for more info and to join the group.

Mini-9 charity pix

Mark sent me this note and photos from his mini disc golf tournament he held recently at Riverview. Glad it was a success!
Well, on an excellent sunny Sunday afternoon in middle October the crowd gathered early to watch their favorite players at Riverview, North Augusta. Needless to say there was an expectation of certain individuals that they were ready. The competition was in the air however it was so well mixed with beginners that the fun was electric.
I spent time encouraging folks to participate because we had advertised a "tournament" and they said they were just not that good. I went into delivering the simple explanation of odds to win great prizes ($3425) for a minimum entry fee ($5). I then told them about "Project Rescue of Amazon Youth," the orphanage in Brazil and that 100% of the proceeds were going to the little girls who have enough food for one year with a donation of $250.
It really turned out it was about answering the flier from Britni Thornton and Amy Cook to come out and play the best. With the support of Killer B Disc Golf I had enough score cards and the game being very honorable everyone easily identified Brendon and Amy Cook as winners. Our entire project brought in $15,000. A special thanks out to all that contributed and continue to do so.

Lakeside represents!

Evan and Jacob from the newly-formed Lakeside HS disc golf club stopped in to meet Chuck today. Wurd.

Another Killer B article!

We were mentioned this week in the local newspaper, the Verge, in conjunction with coverage about the upcoming Disc Golf for Kid's Sake tournament at the IDGC.

It's another great bit of publicity for the B! Thanks Chris!
Feel free to pick up a copy and bring it to the store for free autographs! Ha ha!

New ladies league forming in Augusta!

After having such a blast at the ladies-only Magnolia Open this weekend, Mrs Killer B thought it would be a great idea for us to sponsor a monthly league for the ladies of Augusta.

Who's in? It will be a fun, one round singles league followed by lunch on the second Saturday of every month. The first day will be Nov. 12 at Pendleton King Park and then rotate to other courses. Killer B will throw in a door prize each month too!

All you have to do is show up ready to have some fun! All ages and skill levels welcome. Email Marcy if you are interested and she will add you to the list!
