Swirly, so swirly

Just refilled Innova and got some really pretty swirly Star plastic. Unfortunately you can't really see the awesomeness in the photo, so you'll have to come down and touch 'em yourself!

L64 tombstones

Shawn H. posted this on a Latitude 64 Facebook group I follow and writes: "Nearly tombstoned my Striker with my Bolt."

El Kabong sent me this one next. These are almost too perfect to believe!

My buddy threw it and it landed 10 feet from the pin for easy bird...but label was perfectly level...what are the odds?

for you collection

A triple-tree-love stick

This one has to be in my top five favorites, mainly because of how it got stuck.

Cason of Augusta, GA sent this photo in with a story that goes something like this: John N.'s drive hit a tree on the left of the fairway, shot to the right of the fairway, and hit the big tree and then the skinny tree. Nice!

Here's a nice one from Danny E from Patriots Park.

Going artsy

We've gone artsy here at the Hive and are now offering prints and postcards by semi-local photographer Craig Wrenn who specializes in disc golf photos.

Grab a great print of the IDGC, Earlewood, Trophy Lakes, the Sarge, Stoney Hill, or Winthrop to brighten your dreary cubicle today!

Old man Meek wanted to try throwing my XCaliber on hole 4 at Killer B's most recent tourney at PK. (Meek)

Westside is here!

It's another disc company from Europe, but this time it's Finland. Say hello to Westside Discs and their getting-popular drivers and new midrange.

The folks at Westside have a close relationship with Latitude 64 and their plastics are very similar; durable, colorful, and flippin' sweet!

Each disc has a great hotstamp from the Finnish national epic Kalevala. Stop by and check these discs out!

Surprise visits from my old stomping grounds are great! Matt and Andy Duquette from MA stopped by yesterday with a couple friends they were visiting in SC. It was great seeing my old "locals" again!

What would you do with 9 free baskets?

That's a good problem to have, isn't it?

Pick up this year's DGA Worlds fundraiser disc and come July, you could be sitting there wondering what to do with the nine free glow-in-the-dark baskets you just won!

We have a handful of the special glow Undertows at the shop, so come on down and pick one up. The stamp looks kinda spooky in the dark.

It could be the best $25 you ever spent! (Buy now!)

Battling at the $10 Tourney

Juniors Champ Branden H.
I usually like to take a lot of photos during our tournaments but because I was playing this time, I only took a few. However, I was able to take a bunch during the 5-hole playoff between Juniors Branden Hill and Will DeBruin. It was one of the most exciting playoff I've ever seen.

The boys played with nerves of steel and looking at them handle the pressure you might think they were seasoned pros. Dads Freddie and Bo stood at a distance and offered the occasional word of encouragement but more importantly let the boys do their thing.

It was great watching the kids battle, but what I thought was even better were the 25-30 golfers who were following them around clapping and cheering them on. Afterward, Will said that having all these people watching them was "spooky." Ha! You'll get used to it Will!

Will D
In the end Branden pulled out the victory after Will's drive on hole 5 hit a tree and bounced down the embankment toward the pond. Branden's drive flew through the trees and left him with an easy approach and putt. Nice job, guys!

More tight finishes
We also had a playoff in Intermediate between James Meek and Matt Bonitatibus that lasted just two holes with Matt taking it down. Herman Grant shot the hot round of the day with a 50 on his way to winning Advanced Masters and two CTPs. Stephen Trello kept old man Mike Doyle at bay in Advanced with a 2-stroke victory and also won two CTPs.

The Womens division was also a hotly contested one with all three ladies shooting either an 85 or 86 in round 1. The battle continued in round 2 with Antoinette Shackleford edging out Nanette Vilano by just one stroke on the last hole of the day. It's great to see the ladies competing out there! World Champ Chuck Hornsby easily handled the other Grandmasters with a 4-throw victory.

Sponsors are great
Thanks to sponsors Big Dog Sweeton, Brian Graham, Dom Randazza, Jason Allind, Mike Doyle, Brandon Phipps, Paul Childs, and Killer B, we were able to give away a bunch of stuff. Besides winning a custom dyed trophy disc by Taylor McKnight, all first place winners also received a free car wash token at Lulu's courtesy of Brandon Phipps.

Next up, Summer Edition!
See you at the next $10 Tourney - Summer Edition on July 29 at either Lake Olmstead or Riverview!

First flight tombstone

Got this tombstone from Jesse Reim who writes:
As you can see from the sticker marks...this was BRAND new. It was actually my first throw... I had been told that destroyers are overstable but apparently I underestimated it (and) threw it out and it went about 350 and spiked into the ground tombstone style....
I thought the image was really cool with how it stuck in on the hill and the heli in the background. (It) is from Coast Guard training they run occasionally next to my practice field.
