Oregon stops by the Hive

Members from the University of Oregon, last year's NCDGC champs, stopped by the store this afternoon. A bit bleary-eyed from their red-eye flight, they were anxious to head out to the Hippodrome to see the changes from last year.

Univ of Oregon and Mr Alan

PDGA Events Coordinator Alan Kane also stopped by and gave the boys from the Pacific Northwest a sneak peak at the DGA SP Undertow that will be in their players pack.

These beauties are only available from us and when they're gone they're gone! Shop online or stop by the store in downtown Augusta and get one!

Dominate with these new limited edition Blizzard Dominators

We just received 15 special edition Blizzard Dominator fundraising discs for the Kansas City Wide Open. Yes, it's a new Innova wide-rimmed high speed driver in Blizzard champion plastic.

Not sure when they'll be released in the regular plastic offerings, so try these 150-159g beauties in the meantime. The tourney stamp is pretty sweet too!

Non-locals, give us a call at 706-814-7514 to order over the phone.

From Innova: The Dominator is a speed 13 plus distance driver designed to give the best of control and long line shaping for higher power players. Similar to the Katana, with more high speed stability, the Dominator has the glide to maximize distance with a predicable turn. Lower power players will be able to use the Dominator in weights down to the mid 130s in Blizzard Champion plastic. Dominator tests show 13|5|-1|2 as the potential flight numbers.

Golf legend Tom Watson disses disc golf!

Our new hometown Augusta, GA is in the ball golf spotlight this week with a little tournament going on a few miles from the shop called the Masters. Maybe you've heard of it? Last night, the Mayor of Augusta hosted a public reception a few doors down from the shop honoring legendary golfer Tom Watson.

It was a quick ceremony with a few speeches and the Mayor presented Watson with a proclamation and the key to the city. Watson gave a lighthearted acceptance speech and the reception was over.

Mrs. Killer B, Mike D, and I headed for the exit when Mrs B said, "You forgot to bring a disc for him to sign." I said, "I'll go get it if you go get his autograph." Deal. So I ran back to the store and grabbed a bright yellow Killer B stamped Vulcan and a Sharpie and hustled back.

Marcy grabbed the disc and walked back into the park and claimed a spot along the railing near the exit while Watson made his way down the line. He was signing all sorts of things -- hats, Masters tee flags, shirts -- and was making small talk with everyone. Marcy was confident he'd sign the disc.

Mike and I were across the lawn watching the action unfold. When Watson got near Marcy, she held out the disc and asked politely, "Mr. Watson, will you sign my disc golf disc?" Instead, he grabbed a hat from the guy next to her and asked him, "Are you sure you want me to sign such a nice hat?" Okay, strike one. No problem.

Marcy repositioned the disc in front of him and asked again. No luck as he autographed something for the person in front of her. Strike two.

Meanwhile, Mike and I lost view of them as the crowd shifted behind some bushes. I saw Watson lean over to his right where Marcy was and was sure I saw a flash of yellow. A minute later I finally caught sight of Marcy as she exited the park and she gave me a frown. No luck!

It turns out that on her third attempt he reached right over the disc and totally ignored her. He didn't even make eye contact with her! Marcy got dissed!

Oh well, it was a valiant try. Maybe he only signs ball golf-related things. We did get a good chuckle out of it though, so all is good, but I bet Bubba Watson wouldn't have dissed her!

Hey Bubba! Stop by the store this week!
