The much anticipated Titanium plastic from Discraft makes its debut this week with the arrival of the Nate Doss Buzzz and Paige Pierce Stalker. Early word is that the plastic looks very much like Gold line Latitude 64 stuff - shiny, durable, color-shifting, and bowling ball-esque.
We ordered a bunch so that the kids coming in for the National Collegiates at the Hippodrome the second week of April will be able to get their hands on them even after you locals get a hold of them.
Hopefully we'll get them in later this week. We'll keep you updated!

Macon Aces hits the derby circuit
The Macon (GA) Aces Disc Golf Club has built a disc golf-inspired car to enter in the local Soap Box Derby on April 1. Killer B sent over a few stickers to help with the theme. Pretty awesome, huh?
Love the steering wheel! Good luck in the race!

Es invade the Hive
We had some more New England disc golfers stop by the Hive for a visit this week. George, Stephen, and Nick Economos from MA dropped by Wednesday night for Hott Shott as part of their disc golf road trip to FL.
Thursday morning we played a fun round on Jackson at the IDGC and will meet up again next weekend at the Carolina Clash in Charlotte, NC. There we will join about five other snowbirds from MA, NH, and ME. Should be a fun NEFA reunion for me and I look forward to seeing everyone!

NEFA heads South
A couple of friends from my old stomping grounds of MA and NEFA are in town this week playing as much disc golf as possible as they road-trip through VA, NC, and GA.
Today they visited Marcy at the IDGC and Tuesday I'll play tour guide with them for an early round at Riverview. If you see three guys who talk funny out on the course, be sure to show them some Southern hospitality and say hi!

First ace!
Congratulations to 13 year old Will DeBruin for hitting his first career ace yesterday! Will hit hole 1 at Patriots Park in Grovetown, GA.

Will is 13. He'll be 14 in June. He threw the PDGA Amateur World Championship 2010 Z Nuke that he traded our Blizzard Destroyer for from Dillon Meadows
It did a slight S-curve from right to left then back to the right. Then dove to the ground on the left of the hole about 10 to 15 feet before the hole. It skipped, and flipped up at about an 80 degree angle and hit the chains from the side and fell into the center of the basket before falling over. Most amazing thing I have ever seen!!!
When the disc started to fade to the right, just before the skip, Will's eyes get big and he starts saying, "Am I about to GET MY FIRST ACE?!" (CHING OF THE CHAINS as he finished the word ACE)Stepping on Soapbox - To everyone who gets an ace in the future, please do not write your name on the basket, tee sign, or bench. Yes, it's exciting and you want to share the news with the world, but it is graffiti and disrespectful and will only lead to more people defacing things. Take a picture and post it on Facebook instead!

New course at Ft Gordon gaining momentum
Thanks to the efforts of James Meek and a handful of others, a disc golf course at Ft Gordon may be in our future.
Since moving here and opening the store, I've had dozens of people come to the store and tell me that Ft Gordon would be a great location for a disc golf course. Most of these guys were soldiers stationed at Ft Gordon who told me that there are acres of unused land just begging for a course and that "somebody" should put in a course. They told me that a lot of the time, they are not allowed to leave post or don't have the time to travel to a course, and are stuck with nothing to do on base.
Another ex-soldier told me that having an easy and fun outdoor activity on base would be a great thing for soldiers who are rehabbing at Ft Gordon.
A light went off in my head and I started collecting contact info from a few of the more interested guys and James Meek was one of them. James already organizes the annual Marine Mud Challenge on base and through his connections and an article he recently wrote about disc golf for the Ft Gordon newspaper, FYI, the Buzz Machine has started!

Only two more weeks of Hott Shott
Sadly, Hott Shott will be ending March 14 so don't miss out on the chance to join the Hott Shott madness that is sweeping the CSRA (or at least 863 Broad St).
We should probably have a Hot Pocket party or make Flaming Moe's for everyone to end the season, right?

New at the Hive! DGA discs, hats, straps, baskets!
We're bringing a little West Coast attitude to the Hive and are excited to start carrying DGA gear!
Stop in and check out the just-released Undertow driver which is being touted as a great fairway driver and beginner friendly. The second I picked one up I wanted to chuck it. Feels great and is pretty flat too.
We also picked up some World Champion John Baldwin signature Hurricanes in SP plastic (they're sparkly!) and a disc I think everyone should throw, the Squall. This is a great straight-flying mid-range driver that I've been throwing for years that is available in sparkle SP and ProLine.
Rounding out our first batch of DGA is the popular super-floppy BlowFly putter, the predictable ShockWave midrange, Gel Strap Backstraps, some pretty sweet hats, and the Mach Lite portable practice basket that is the closest thing to a real basket in this price range.
Come on in and check out DGA!
